What did Thomas Morgan's research discovered? Why was this important to genetic research?

Please do not give me a big paragraph answer, just 2 or 3 sentences will do.

Thomas Morgan discovered that genes are set in loci in chromosomes. That means that some genes that are really close to each other (are in the same locus) can be inherited together. It was a huge discovery because since Mendel people thought every gene is inherited independently.
