the answer is 1 1/12, to do that. make 1/3 into 4/12 and subtract 5/12 - 2 4/12= 1 1/12, Hope this helps :)

In order to calculate left chain, you need to subtract that as follows:
Left chain = 3 5/12 - 2 1/3
L.C. = 41/12 - 7/3
L.C.= 41-28 / 12
L.C. = 13/12
In short, Your Answer would be 13/12 feet or 1 1/12 feet
