2x + 3y = 6

The general equation format:

y = mx + c

where m = slope and c = vertical or y intercept

2x + 3y = 6

3y = -2x + 6

y = -2x/3 + 6/3

y = -2x/3 + 2 Comparing to y = mx + c, m =-2/3 and c = 2

So the y intercept is 2.

Hope this explains it.
