Answer:

The answer is Molecular Biology, more specifically Genetics.

Step-by-step explanation:

The Molecular Biology studies the composition of the different organisms in terms of its nucleic acids (DNA and RNA). This area is interested not only in the composition of DNA and RNA of organisms, but also in proteins (other kind of biomolecule). Comprised in this area is found Genetics, which is in charge of the identification of new genes, and the discover of their function in the organism.

For the answer to the question above asking what is the area of biology that studies the nucleic acid makeup of an organism?
I think the answer is Microbiology because of the nucleic acid thing. Since nucleic acids, which include DNA (deoxyribonucleicacid) and RNA (ribonucleic acid), are made from monomers known as nucleotides. Each nucleotide has three components: a 5-carbon sugar, a phosphate group, and a nitrogenous base. If the sugar is deoxyribose, the polymer is DNA.
