The Seminoles, led by Alligator, Sam Jones, and the recently escaped Coacooche, were well positioned in a hammock surrounded by sawgrass. The ground was thick mud, and sawgrass easily cuts and burns the skin.

The Seminoles were positioned and ready in a hammock surrounded by sawgrass. The sawgrass is rough and cuts through skin, and the ground was also extremely wet and muddy.
