Data:

Pt (pizza+topping) = $7.50
t (topping) = $1.35
tt (total) = $12.90
nt (number topping) = ?

Solving:

pt + t*nt = tt (equation)

7.50 + 1.35nt = 12.90

1.35nt = 12.90 - 7.50

1.35nt = 5.4

nt = (5.4)/(1.35)

\boxed{nt = 4}

For better understanding

Data:

A (pizza+topping) = $7.50
B (topping) = $1.35
C (total) = $12.90
D (number topping) = ?

Solving:

A + B*C = D (equation)

7.50 + 1.35D = 12.90

1.35D = 12.90 - 7.50

1.35D = 5.4

D = (5.4)/(1.35)

\boxed{D = 4}
