12000 = 2x - 1500
12000 + 1500 = 2x
13500 = 2x
13500/2 = x
6750 = x <=== original price

Answer:

Original price of the boat will be $6750

Explanation:

The selling price of a classical speedboat is = $12000

Let the original price of this boat = $x

As per statement given

"Selling price of the boat is $1500 less than twice of its original price"

Selling price of the boat = $(2x - 1500)

OR, $12000 = $(2x - 1500)

12000 + 1500 = 2x

2x = 13500

x =
(13500)/(2)

= 6750

Therefore, original price of the speedboat will be $6750.
