well if you do 23= x-9 you put the 9 under the 23 and subtract you would get 14 for your answer. so there is your answer just listen to me i am right i am in 11th grade i know what i am doing.

This equation is false so this may be based on that. Instead of subtraction it willl be addition. 14 - 9 is not equal to 23 and is equal to 5. The correct equation is 14 + 9 = 23
