A town is debating to put curbs along streets. The ratio of town residents who support the act to those who appose is 2 to 5. If 210 people were surveyed, how many people are expected to support the act based on the ratio?

In the ratio, 5 is the max. In the survey, 210 is the max. Now, what times 5 = 210?
You can find that any way you like, though I prefer division.
210÷5 = 42
Therefore, 42 is the number you will multiply by 2 to find you answer.
42×2=84
