What is the area of the figure? Assume that all angles are right angles.

I say 980 (i divided the figure into 3 shapes, two squares and a rectangle)

First of all I imagine that is a big rectangle , then I just need to looks for the area of this rectangle , so I used 60×20=1200 in², then 20 times 10 for the little "rectangle" , then I subtracted those numbers to get the final answer , which is 1000 In².

you can do it in 2 shapes
image you have a big rectangle and cut out a small rectangle
big rectangle area=20 by 60=1200
small rectangle=, hmm
width=60-20-20=20
height=10
small rectangle=20 times 10=200

big-small=1200-200=1000
answer is 1000 square inches
less eroror

answer is 1000 square inches
