Hope you can see it, that is the solution. First I changed the 2/3 to decimal which is approximately 0.667

Then you multiply the y by 0.667 , it will give you 0.667y +

Third step add 0.667 × 57 which will give you 38

you are now left with this formula
0.667y + 38 = 178
which means the same thing as 2/3 (y+57) = 178

solve for y by moving the +38 to the left, this is because it is a whole number not standing with any letter/ variable.

Because you switched the sides of the +38 to it's opposite direction it's sign to will change to -38

you are now left with
0.667y = 178 - 38
do the normal calculation of 178 - 38 which is equal to 140

you are now left with
0.667y = 140

to find Y you divide 140 by 0.667
you divide it because it has a variable/ a letter next to it which signifies 0.667 × y or you can say 0.667 × a setting number = 140

When you cross a multiplication over an equal to sign (=) it will change to it's opposite which is ÷

You have 0.667y = 140
it is then changed to

y = 140 ÷ 0.667

which gives you y

Y = 209.9 ( approximately 209.9 )
