P Waves are compressional and the fastest moving seismic wave

S waves are slower than P waves and they can only travel through solid rock. S waves move the particles it pushes through up and down or side to side.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

P WAVES are also called Primary waves. The properties of a primary wave include:

• They are longitudinal and compressional waves by nature

• They travel much faster than other waves

• They travel through the earth to reach the seismograph stations first

• They can travel through any kind of material, including fluids

• They travel at the speed of sound, so they travel at the speed of sound

S WAVES are also called Secondary waves. The properties of a secondary wave include:

• They are transverse and shear waves in nature

• They arrive at the seismograph stations after the fast- movign P-waves

• They can travel onlt through solids

• They are slower than P-waves,a nd speeds are normally 65% of that of P-waves
