1=4,2=8,3=24,4=? please

these are all false statments but it should be written like this:
(1:4),(2:8),(3:24),(4:?)
the pattern is like this:
the first number in each set of parenthasees is 1,2,3,4,5...
the 2nd number is gotten by multiplying the first number times the previous term's 2nd number

so
(1:4),(2:8)
4 times 2=8
(2:8), (3:24)
8*3=24

then
(3:24),(4:?)
24*4=?=96

the question mark is 96

Answer is 4 because 1x4 =4 , 2x4= 8 ... and so on because that is the really thing that only makes sense
