7 7/8 + 5 13/16

We must have a common denominator between the 2 fractions.
8 can go into 16.
7 x 2 = 14
8 x 2 = 16

The fraction is now 14/16 rather than 7/8.

14/16 + 13/16 = 27/16 = 1 11/16

7 + 5 = 12

12 + 1 11/16 = 13 11/16.

The final sum is 13 11/16.

Answer:

27(1/2) → [Mixed fraction]

Explanation:

Given addition: 7(7/8) + 5(13/16)

Convert all the two mixed fractions to proper fractions.

= {(56+7)/8} + {(80 + 13)/16}

= (63/8) + (93/16)

Take the LCM of the denominator 8 and 16 is 16.

= {(63*2 + 93*1)/16}

= {(126 + 93)/16}

= (220/16)

Write to fraction in lowest form by cancelling method.

= (220÷2)/(16÷2)

= 110/8

= (110÷2)/(8÷2)

= 55/2

Write the obtained answer in the form of mixed fraction.

= 55/2 = 27(1/2) Ans.
