The major Purpose of the North American Free Trade Agreement was to promote Free Trade Between the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Before the agreement, also called NAFTA, the US, Canada, and Mexico had harsh restrictions on importing products/services from each other.

However, progressive governments believed that for North America to propose, freer trade between all the countries would be necessary.

Despite criticism, NAFTA has lead to100s of billions of dollars worth of trade and had a significant impact on the economy of Mexico, where it created millions of jobs.
