When doing this always think of the order of operations which is called PEMDAS
Each letter means
Parentheses, Exponents,multiplication, Division, Addition and subtraction. Hope this helps

= 5÷1×9-2
= 5 × 9 - 2
= 43
You must solve the bracket first.After that,solve the multiplication and division,followed by addition and substraction if any.That's the theory to solve the right step
