If a square has a perimeter of 40 yards, what is the length of one side of the square?

a - the length of the square

A perimeter of the square: P = 4a

therefore

4a = 40yd |:4

a = 10yd

10 yards because a square has 4 sides and all four sides are equal and so 40 divided by 4 equals 10
