Kareem cannot decide which of two washing machines to buy. The selling price of each is 650$. The first is marked down by 40%. The second is marked down by 10% with an additional 30% off. Find the sale price of each washing machine. Use pencil and paper. Explain why should buy the first washing machine rather than the second if the machines are the same except for the selling price.

Answer: this is long divide
Step-by-step explanation: first 585 - 50% = ?
Then do that first total and add or subtact 50 % then add I think or it might be the other way for your real total. it should not change the price for the first machine and that is why would want it. Sorry it's been a while since I have done math use a caluator if you have to

Answer:

The first one cost $390, while the second one cost $409.50

Explanation:

650 x .10 =65

650-65=585

585 x .30 = 175.5

585-175.5=409.5

650 x .4 =260

260<409.5

Since the second washing machine is being marked off by 10% first then by 30% percent second, the 30% would be taking away less of the total price than if you did all 40% at one time. I hope this helps
