You sell and service vacuum cleaners. Your price on a particular model is $125. However, to get a service contract, you offer to sell it for $115. How much discount are you giving as a percentage of price (to the nearest tenth)?

Answer:

The discount percent is 8%.

Explanation:

The actual price of the model = $125

The offer price of the model = $115

So, the discount percent will be equal to the difference of both prices, divided by the actual price and multiplied by 100.

This becomes:
(125-115)/(125)*100= 8%

Hence, the discount percent is 8.0%

The price is reduced by $10. The percentage of this amount from the given initial amount is

=(10)/(125)* 100\%=8\%

Therefore, a discount of 8% is given.
