D) the least common denominator is 12.

- it CANNOT be a mixed number since it doesn’t have a whole number beside each fraction.
For example: a mixed number form would be 1 (5/6) - 3 (3/4)

-it is NOT a whole number since the numbers are both written in fraction form. Whole numbers are for example: 1, 2, 3, 4 ....

- the least common denominator CANNOT be a 6 because 4 does not multiply to 6 in any way. And you cannot use division for this matter.

However, if you multiply the 6 and 4 to get 12 it is possible.
6 x 2 = 12
4 x 3 = 12

In other words, this (12) is the closest multiple to 6 & 4

Therefore the answer is D.

the answer is D i believe cuz the fraction s implies out to 1/12 :)
