6p - 0.80 = 9.52

Your goal is to isolate p.

You can add both sides by 0.80 to cancel 0,80 on left side:

6p - 0.80 + 0.80 = 9.52 + 0.80

6p =
9.52 + 0.80

6p = 10.32

Now divide both sides by 6:

6p / 6 = 10.32 / 6

p = 10.32 / 6

p = 1.72

So the cost of each gel pen is $1.72.

Hope this helps.
