A batch of cookies requires 3/8 cup of butter. Butter can be purchased in boxes, each containing 4 sticks, with 1 stick equivalent to 1/2 cup of butter. If Monica is to bake 15 batches of cookies, which of the following is the best estimate for the total number of boxes of butter she needs to buy?

Firstly, we need to find how many cups of butter is needed to bake
15 batches. We will need
15 \cdot (3)/(8) = (45)/(8) cups of butter. This is
5.625 cups. Since we can only buy butter in boxes with 2 cups of butter in it, we will have to buy 3. This will give us 6 cups of butter, which will be enough. If we only buy 2, then we will only have 4 cups of butter, which won't be enough to bake 15 batches of cookies.
So, the answer is
\boxed{3}.
