Before 1961 what might have been the best way for someone living in Leipzig to escape to munich

Before 1961, the Soviet union had not put up the iron curtain and therefore technically hundreds of thousands of east Germans could escape to Munich by basically boarding a plane at west Berlin. The soviets put up the fence to prevent the populations east of Germany from fleeing.
