To calculate the volume of a cylinder we take the area of the circle or base, and multiply that times the height of the cylinder. The formula for area of a circle is pi*r*r, or 16pi. multiply this times 5 to get 80pi. This can also be written as 251.2, if you are using 3.14 for pi, or 251.327, if you need more digits.

Volume of a cylinder:
\pir²h

Plug in the radius and height for the cylinder.

\pi4²5 = 251

The approximate volume of the cylinder is 251 cm³.
