Same rule as the last problem I solved:

`(x + 8)/(10) = (2x - 5)/(14) \: \: ... \: cross - multiply \\ 14(x + 8) = 10(2x - 5) \\ 14x + 112 = 20x - 50 \\ - 6x = - 162`

`- 6x = - 162 \\ ( - 6x)/( - 6) = (- 162)/( - 6) \\ x = 27`

The answer is 7.
x + 8 + 2x - 5 = 10 + 14
x + 8 + 2x - 5 = 24
+ 5 = +5
x +8 + 2x = 29
-8 -8
x + 2x = 21
put the x's together
3x = 21
divide
x= 7


check 3 x 7 = 21
