If a chemical was placed in the water that caused all of the mosquito larvae to die, what would be one possible change in the food chain?

Anything that would eat mosquitos would start to die, as they would lose their source of food

Answer:

The population size of the predator of mosquitoes would increase.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the chemical kills the mosquito larvae, the mosquitoes’ population size would be reduced. It would have following possible effects on food chain:

a) In absence of their food (mosquitoes), the predator of mosquitoes will starve. So, the population size of the predator would be reduced.

b) Also, the population size of the organisms that serve as food for mosquitoes would be increased due to absence of their predators (no mosquitoes in the system).
