average = (a + b)/(2)

So


(5 + 9)/( 2) = (14)/(2) = 7

The mean of something is when you:
Add the numbers together and divide by the amount of numbers you have added

5+7+9 = 21
we have added 3 numbers so you do:
21/3 = 7 ✅
