Step #1 - convert 1 ⅓ into a mixed number,

(1)/(2)r - (1)/(3) - (4)/(3) = - (7)/(3)

Step #2 - calculate the sum or difference of - ⅓ by -4/3,

(1)/(2)r - (5)/(3) = - (7)/(3)

Step #3 - Multiply both sides by 6,

(1)/(2) (6)r - (5)/(3) (6) = - (7)/(3) (6)

3r - 10 = - 14

Step #4 - Move constant ( - 10 ) to the right and change its sign,

3r = - 14 + 10

Step #5 - Calculate the sum

3r = - 4

Step #6 - Divide both sides by 3 so we can isolate the variable r,

r = - (4)/(3)

I hope that helps you out!!
