One major difference between the occupations of Alcatraz in 1969 and Wounded Knee in 1973 was that Alcatraz was meant to protest broken treaties. Wounded Knee resulted in the deaths of several people. Wounded Knee took place on federal property. Alcatraz was symbolic of suffering by American Indians.

The correct answer is B) Wounded Knee resulted in the killing of several people.

One major difference between the occupations of Alcatraz in 1969 and Wounded Knee in 1973 was that Wounded Knee resulted in the killing of several people.

Native Americans occupied Alcatraz island from November 20, 1969, to June 11, 1971. They took the island and proclaimed it was Indian land. A group called Indians of All Tribes took the island. In June 1971 the Indians were removed by the federal government.

The Wounded Knee incident started in February 27, 1973. Almost 200 Oglaga Lakota Indians and followers of the American Indian Movement took the town of Wounded Knee, South Dakota. That was a symbolic place for them du to the tragic incidents in that same place in December, 1890. The FBI and the Marshall services cordoned the area. Unfortunately, members of the police forces and Indians were killed in shootings.
