According to the National Institute of Health, adhesions are bands of fibrous tissue. They can connect the loops of the intestines to each other, to nearby organs, or to the wall of the abdomen. They can pull sections of the intestines out of place. This may block food from passing through the intestine. Adhesions can sometimes cause infertility in women by preventing fertilized eggs from reaching the uterus.

What is one way that an adhesion could prevent fertilized eggs from reaching the uterus?

1. By the intestines adhering to the epididymis
2. By the intestines adhering to the vagina (WRONG)
3. By an adhesion putting pressure on the fallopian tubes
4. By an adhesion putting pressure on the ovaries

Abdominal adhesions can cause two physiological dysfunctions mainly on the gastrointestinal system and the reproductive system, especially in females, which includes female infertility or the inability to become pregnant. These bands of fibrous tissue if found in or around the fallopian tube become a complication when it hinders the fertilized egg from reaching the uterus where fetal development actually takes place. This could either result to ectopic pregnancy, or repeated miscarriages.

Therefore, the answer is letter C. ABDOMINAL ADHESION PUTTING PRESSURE ON FALLOPIAN TUBES.
