Answer and explanation;
Dmitri Mendeleev
was the first scientist to design the periodic table and is credited for creating the first periodic table.
He arranged elements based on physical and chemical properties such that groups of elements with similar properties occupied vertical columns in the table. This is due to his realization that both physical and chemical properties are related to their atomic mass periodically.
Mendeleev periodic table provided the basis and was significant step for the development of the modern day periodic table. The study of various elements has become very simple such that if properties of a certain elements are known, then it means the properties of other elements in the same group can be assumed easily.
