The Magna Carta and English Bill of Rights heavily influenced the United States Constitution in many ways. It had a heavily particular influence on the idea that Congress had to approve all taxes. The idea that anyone other than the King should monitor power and taxes was unheard of in 1215. The Barons pushed for King John to sign the Magna Carta to stop the endless taxes. This would be a constant theme as kings would try to take back their power and bring back taxes for various things. Hence the return in the English Bill of Rights. Both documents would also deal with other aspects that we hold dear, such as the idea of justice, fair trials, and speedy trials. These too had been things that kings had not allowed and then tried to take away after they had been given to the people.
