Monroe doctrine question in 1823, president james monroe, with the help of his advisers, developed what became known as the monroe doctrine. the monroe doctrine said that the united states would not allow any european nation to intervene in or colonize countries in the western hemisphere in any way at any time for any reason. do you believe that monroe has the right to tell other countries to stay out of the western hemisphere? explain.

Its not whether he had the right to or not, if youll look through history. Rarelly was there ever a country that gained power and status by sitting idly wondering about the ethics behind every little move they made. The doctrine was not really so much a line in the sand as it was a standard being set. The meaning behind it ? we will defend sovereign democracies in the western hemispheres because weve suffered under your rule for long enough to know that nobody but the monarchs fare well. At the time the french were reviving the spanish crown as a favor in return for cuba. As well as russia and some others forming the Holy alliance to defend monarchism. So that, to the U.S. seemed threatening enough.
