I believe it could go both ways but I feel like your identity influences your success more.

Think of an influencer or celeb for example, people have to like you, for you to be successful. So if people don't like you, can't relate to you, or whatever else it is there is a less chance that you will be successful.

But when you do become successful, that life and style could change your identity for sure. So technically both are correct and they are both true, but for me I think your identity influences your success a lot!
