In advertising, rating refers to the percentage of households in a market tuned to a particular tv or radio program. A rating ratio will let the company know when their advertisements are being played and how many viewers they have during those times. If they see they aren't reaching much of their target market doing it at set amount of times, they may alter those to reflect the best possible reach.
