The leader coefficient will be the constant of the term with having the highest degree or exponent
So the leading coefficient of (x-1) (x^2+1) would be determined if you multiply it.
(x-1) (x^2+1)= x^3-x^2+x-1
SO the highest degree is 3 which has the coefficient of 1.
