B. Changing or maintaining particular policies.

Interest group's primary goal is to change or maintain particular policies that benefit them directly, one segment of society or a bigger public purpose.

This type of formal organization of people attempt to influence policy in several ways, some of them are: To lobby government (including members of Congress, the executive branch, etc.), to engage in election activities, to educate people about their interests, activities, relevance, current issues, etc., and to mobilize people who act on behalf of the organization in order to perform activities, such as writing letters, making phone calls and demonstrating.
