C = 5/9(F - 32)
--- slope = 5/9, so for every 1 increase of F, C goes up by 5/9
F = 9/5C + 32
--- slope = 9/5=1.8, so for every 1 increase of C, F goes up by 9/5=1.8

A temperature increase of 1 degree Fahrenheit is equivalent to a temperature increase of $5/9$ degree Celsius.
A temperature increase of 1 degree Celsius is equivalent to a temperature increase of 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit
