The length of a box is 4 inches longer than its width, and the height is 2 inches shorter than the width. which equation can you use to solve for the length of the box if the volume is 240 cubic inches? (assume that the width of the box is x.)

l=w+4 this shows the length is 4 inches longer than width
h=w-2 this shows the height is 2 inches shorter than the width
volume=lwh
so 240=lwh=(w+4)(w)(w-2)
simplify and solve to find the width then you can use that to find the other values as well.
