A cholecystectomy is excising the gallbladder ,ligating cystic duct and inserting a t tube for drainage. Post operatively the nurse should check the patient's vital signs and check the attachments like the nasogastric tube, t tube and catheter if they are in place. For nasogastric tube by checking the placement, also the t tube she should check the color and amount of the drains and for the catheter if there is a urine output and the color as well.
