Energy cannot be created or destroyed, meaning that energy cannot be “lost”. Instead, all of the energy has been transferred out of the ball when it was dropped. Though the ball would still have some energy, such as the energy of gravity acting in it, it just wouldn’t have kinetic energy as it has stopped moving.
