Let "p" represent the starting population of ants. It is given that the population of ants is growing at a rate of 10% per month. Let
p_e represent the population of ants at the end of the month. Therefore, at the end of the month, the population of ants will be given as:

p_e=p+(10)/(100)p=p+0.1p=1.1p

Therefore, the monthly growth factor of the ant population is 1.1.
