Find the range of f(x) = 3x - 5 for the domain {-1.5, 2, 4}

A) {-8, 10, -1, -1}
B) {-9.5, 1, 7}
C) {8, 10, 1, 1}
D) {9.5, -1, -7}

B is the answer

Because A and C could not be since the set have 4 results

D could not be because f(4)=. 12-5=7 not -7

For this case we have the following function:

f (x) = 3x - 5

To find the values of the range of the function, we substitute the values of the domain.

We have then:

For x = -1.5:

f (x) = 3 (-1.5) - 5\\f (x) = -4.5 - 5\\f (x) = -9.5

For x = 2:

f (x) = 3 (2) - 5\\f (x) = 6 - 5\\f (x) = 1

For x = 4:

f (x) = 3 (4) - 5\\f (x) = 12 - 5\\f (x) = 7

Therefore, the values of the range are given by:

{-9.5, 1, 7}

Answer:

the range of
f (x) = 3x - 5 for the domain {-1.5, 2, 4} is:

B) {-9.5, 1, 7}
