Chantelle's cat is 3 inches shorter than 1 / 2 the length of her dog. If her dog is d inches long which expression can be used to determine the length of her cat?

A d/2-3 C 3-d/2
B d/2+3. D 3+d/2
A carnival charges $ 5 per person to enter. If the carnival made $ 450 from entry fees, which equation could be used to determine how many people ( p ) entered the carnival?
A 5-p = 450. C 5×p = 450
B 450 × p = 5. D 450-5= p

Are you sure these are the answer choices? I would think that a valid expression is 1/2d - 3. If you think about it, 3 inches shorter than 1/2 of 3 is basically 1/2 of d minus 3, which is 1/2d - 3. So, I'm not sure if those are the correct answer choices. Of course, you are still able to manipulate that expression.

Now for the next one, since each ticket costs $5 per person, and there was $450 total made, we can put that as 5 times p= 450, which is C.
