If one number is 10 less than four times the other and their sum is 195. What is the numbers?

Let's use x as our unknown. We know that one value must only be x. Then, we know that the other value is 4x - 10, because that would be 10 less than 4 times the first value. Next, we need to set up an equation and solve.

WORK:
4x - 10 + x = 195
5x - 10 = 195
5x = 205
x = 41

ANSWER:
One number is 41 and the other is 154
