Cesar Chavez worked to advance the rights of immigrant farm workers.

Chavez became a national figure during the 1950's and 1960's due to his involvement in helping farm workers, especially Mexican-American workers, to gain access to better working conditions and pay. Chavez was one of the leaders of the Delano Grape Strikes of the 1960's and is one of the co-founders of the National Farm Workers Association, which is a labor union meant to advocate for farm workers all over the United States.
