A point mutation is a mutation that only affects a single nucleotide of nucleic acid. In this type of mutation in DNA or RNA there is a change within a gene in which one base pair in the DNA sequence is altered. Point mutations are frequently the result of mistakes made during DNA replication. Frameshift mutation is point mutation which is caused by an insertion or deletion of a nucleotide causing the reading frame to shift & the protein to be too long or too short.
