There were several reasons how the united states was able to industrialize at the turn of the century and spurred this technological movement on. First, new technologies were improved and developed in rapid succession like railroads, steam engines, internal combustion engine and telegraph lines that became readily available that it caused more Americans depending themselves on industrial technologies for communication, social activities and economic. Second, the Reconstruction Era, they began industrializing where there had never been an industry, Southerners envisioning the "New South" that included a local industrial base that helped it compete with the Northerners and made it more reliant. Third, more immigrants arrived during the period, providing cheap labor force that assured the large industries had huge workforce.
