The nephron
The nephron is the functional and structural unit of the kidney. Each nephron is made up of four components which are Bowman’s capsule, proximal convoluted tubule, loop of Henle and distal convoluted tubule all of which plays important role. Nephrons functions by filtering blood and then reabsorbing useful materials from the filtrate before eliminating the remainder as urine. This process occur over three key stages which are ultrafiltration, selective reabsorption and osmoregulation.
