it would need 9 gallons because you would do 494/26 which is 19 then 171/19 and you get 9

Since 494 miles is 26 gallons of gasoline, we can find how many miles is in 1 gallon of gasoline.
494/26 = 19 miles per gallon of gasoline.
It will need to travel 171 miles, therefore:
171/19 = 9 gallons
